storms, whistleblowers & sewing in afghanistan…three small & easy good deeds you can do right now.
hello my loves.
im sending small and confused sounds from hard lockdown where things are weird and hard but deeply and strangely fine. i’ll write about life soon.
meanwhile, here are quick easy good deeds you can do. sent from my bed to your soul so forgive the formatting….
1. CLOSE TO HOME, and free – vote for Storm.
our very own Storm Large is trying to make it to the next round in america’s got talent.
she’s an old friend and a force beyond belief and she’s let me sleep in her house so many nights and held my soul so many times that of course i am going to harass all of you to take five seconds and do the things and vote for her.
she’s a really astounding human, and she deserves this break. see: her memoir, “crazy enough”, and our podcast together about defeating pain and past and moving forward using art as a machete…that’s here: https://amandapalmer.net/podcast/storm-large-know-who-you-are-not/
and watch storm SLAUGHTER the song “i’ve got you under my skin” here: https://youtu.be/rlwvLR4feNI
i literally just watched it and got goosebumps twice.
HERE IS WHERE TO VOTE:https://agt.vote.nbc.com
and don’t forget storm is on patreon.
support.
2. ABORTION WHISTLEBLOWERS? WELL THIS IS AWFUL…but you can do something! and it’s also free. AND maybe fun.
Texas now has a site to “report” woman who have had an abortion. It has the option of submitting pictures. Way to go Texas.
It would be a…crying shame if this site got too many submissions to sort through. Have fun.

hooray for hacking.
3. and last but biggest – AFGHANISTAN
many people on social media have been asking me about good places to send money in afghanistan. it’s a complicated situation and knowing where to put aid effort is obviously really hard. and the red cross is great but…massive.
one of our own patrons – and my old pal – cookie (from the UK) directly knows the folks doing this gofundme to get $$ straight to some women in afghanistan who need it. having worked with cookie at the refugee camps in lesvos, i know we can trust this:
i just donated $200. they are very very VERY close to their $8,000 goal. let’s get them over the top.
from the gofundme: “Our area of support is with individual refugees and families that we have been helping, till they can get work and support themselves. The last group we have supported is Afghanistan widows, children and elderly starving in Afghanistan since Covid hit.
We have helped to start a sewing school, with 8 widows learning to sew!
We purchased 8 sewing machines and irons, scissors, material and other sewing supplies. Each widow will receive a sewing machine
and supplies after she successfully completes the course. Our goal is to buy or have made a large sewing table and benches, and to raise enough money to rent an apartment to hold the classes and allow the teacher and her husband to live there.”
…….
A little can always go a long way.
I love you all.
….do one or two or three of the above things if you’re feeling like pitching into the universe today.
….or just go back to hiding under your blanket.
i empathize.
more soon.
i’ll be hanging out in the comments for about fifteen minutes before i collapse if you get this lickety split and wanna say hi. it’s 22:46pm NZ time.
