me and neil get ahead
hallo dear ones.
just heading off to bed but before i do…two photos my friend angela winter means took during my show this past saturday night. i was playing in a tiny local hall on waiheke island – it fit 200 souls. i played for two hours. photo one is of the back of me and neil’s heads, we are seated in the third row…during my set. i’m not usually in the audience for my own concerts, but a wonderful iconic kiwi stage actor, michael hurst), came up on stage to do a recitation of kubla khan, by coleridge, and i took a break from singing.
we sat in awe and watched him spin his magic.
angela was in the seat behind us and captured our heads, which is exactly the sort of thing you want your friend to do.
and a few minutes earlier, at the start of the show, she took this photo of ash.
he had a flower he wanted to give me, and shortly after this, he placed it on the lip of the stage so i could “find” it. this is ash, waiting for his flower moment and watching me during the opening song.
sometimes i feel like the luckiest person alive. that these are the people around me, and that this is what they do. reminder; the whole show at morra hall was captured by a small local auckland film crew – using patron dollars, so thank you, and yay – and it will be out on youtube soon, free to the public.
night night my loves
