CALIFORNIA I AM IN YOU!! See you tomorrow. Or Saturday.
Hola my loves !!!
YayyyyyyyYyyyyy. I MADE IT. ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? Who’s coming?
Goddamn. That was close. I made it to California. These shows are gonna happen. LA, I’ll see you tomorrow night. San Diego, Saturday.
If you’ve been following the story the last few weeks…man alive, it’s been a rough road. I nearly didn’t get on the plane from Boston yesterday.
I woke up seeing the snow falling outside the Cloud Club in Boston, I saw Lee off to radiation, I landed yesterday at LAX, I drove to my cousin’s house in Hermosa Beach, I got into the ocean, I yawped and praised the universe for the beauty that is never ending.
I spent the night having dinner with my beautiful and hilarious extended California family, including my beloved cousin Katherine, who’s 86 and just got out of the hospital. We wheeled her over to the restaurant. We all laughed a lot.
We wheeled Katherine home and I helped her take off her necklace and her make-up.
I slept.
Like the dead.
I woke up and made a muffin trip for her.
And now?
I’m on the 405 (in traffic, obviously) on my way to rehearsal with my band, The Dresden Dolls.
My band, my band, my weird musical salvation container of joyful noise. 😭
Tomorrow my band – all two of us – plays a massive show in LA at the Belasco Theatre.
We are gonna play a ton of our new in-progress material, including a song I finished three days ago and am bringing to Brian today.
There’s just a few tickets left (THE 1,500) and I didn’t go crazy promoting it just in case we had to postpone due to Cancer Stuff, and now is where I Art of Asking this betch:
Please please GO TO THE INTERNET, or text, or call, or email, or carrier pigeon, and tell **everyone** you know in LA to come see the dolls tomorrow night @ the Belasco (Friday the 8th).
Hopefully we can still sell this fucker out.
There’s also a handful of tickets left for Saturday night (the 9th) in San Diego @ the Observatory Theatre.
Both shows are 7pm doors, dolls on at 8pm sharp, no opener. Get merch. Support the band, yadda yadda.
All tickets at

I am so grateful to this world around me.
To be alive and in it, and not alone.
To be surrounded by an ever-changing but strangely consistent wrap of arms around me, always pushing me out to sea and carrying me back to shore.
Sometimes we don’t get to choose.
Sometimes we don’t get to understand.
Sometimes we are better off just standing in awe of the awesomeness.
I love you all, so much.
So much.
